About Jemma Cognita

(Yes, that’s the name we’re going with.)

Let’s just say I’m a writer who prefers to speak freely, without worrying whether my boss, my barista, or my Aunt Cheryl is reading. Hence, Jemma Cognita, a name that sounds real enough for a Starbucks order but keeps just enough distance to write without flinching.

I created Sass and Substance because I'm tired of feeling like the internet is either shouting or selling something.

I wanted a place where we could speak the truth, laugh a little (maybe), and still lead with compassion. This blog is where I unpack the everyday absurdities we all deal with, some silly, some serious, all of it worth talking about.
